Volvo drivers love the remote control features of their key fob. With a smartphone app they can lock and unlock the vehicle and start the engine and even locate it.
First, put the fob onto an uncluttered work surface with the logo facing upwards. Find the button that will let it go. Put a coin between the cover of the fob and the fob, and carefully pull it up.

Locking the Doors

You will require a flathead screwdriver, or a coin to flip the cover counterclockwise so that the arrow is aligned with "open."
The Engine is Ready to Start
Modern Volvo key fobs offer an ease of use and convenience that is unparalleled by manual keys. Key fobs, like any other battery-operated device may lose charge over time. If you notice that your key fob isn't as responsive when you hit the lock or unlock button, it may be time to replace its battery.
You can activate this feature with the key fob if your car is equipped with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start. The car will be heated or cooled to the same temperature it was set to when it was parked, and last for up to 15 minutes.
Utilizing a fingernail to carefully remove the cover from the back of the key fob. Under the cover on a diagonal, close to the body's edge, you should find a button. Remove it by sliding it downwards, then to the right. The cover will be released and slide away to reveal the manual blade! If you're unable to locate the button, take a look around the newly revealed manual key access for a hidden lever or slot.
Close the Windows
One of the nefarious features on Volvo key fobs is that you can lower all windows at once using them. This is useful when trying to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or simply want fresh air while driving.
Press and hold the unlocking button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower all the windows, and the sunroof, if your car has one. When you're finished with the vehicle, you can close all the windows by pressing the lock button again for four seconds.
You can also set off the panic alarm in your car with the key fob. This will emit an intense, attention-grabbing roar that will frighten off thieves and allow you to return home at a safe distance after a night out. This feature is helpful should you live in a dangerous location, or want to protect your family when you are away from home.
Opening the Tailgate
Volvo's key fob is packed with useful features. These are perfect when you're working on groceries or helping your kids to pack their sports gear following practice.
For instance, if you have the available Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and programmable height (if equipped) it is possible to open it by using the key fob. You can open the liftgate by pressing the button and then close it with the same button.
